Situation
After Colliers repositioned the brand from a federation of independently owned firms with over 50 different brand strategies and logos to a top 3, majority owned global commercial real estate brand. Countries, regions, and teams lacked a place to collaborate and share information.
Task
A cohesive, virtual one-place was needed to bring together all existing companies into one new company—Colliers International. The organization needed a cohesive and tiered intranet to bring disconnected teams and regions together for community, news sharing, career growth and education.
Action
Developed the UX and visual design concept as well as the tiered strategy and pitched it to leadership. I led hired and led visual creatives in developing a robust suite of templates and worked directly with front and back end developers to create a workable templated system within the SharePoint eco-system. I pitched the new intranet to regions and took feedback and considered diverse needs at the UX and design stages. After launch, I evangelized the launch to regions and advised the first test country (Canada) in creating best practices.
Results
This SharePoint global intranet was built with both back-end and front-end development as a flexible template that allowed premade modules to be added to hurricane, regional, country, and department pages in order to provide maximum customizability. These were supported by news, people and article pages.
A cohesive "one-place" intranet was successfully created and launched globally. Each region, country, and department gained the flexibility to create structures and multi-level pages for their teams that allowed customization without overwhelming teams with design, development or structural needs. Canada launched as test country and became a best practice as other regions adopted and built.
